Lighting Project Moving Forward
On October 15th, the Bozeman City Commission approved an amendment to the NSURB’s FY2013 budget allowing the board to move forward on the installation of 33 new MSU Bobcat blue light fixtures on N. 7th Avenue between the I-90 bridge and Juniper Street. Bozeman residents may see construction activity begin in mid-November. The project is weather dependent. A winter shut down of the project is anticipated as snow begins to blanket Bozeman. Stay up to date on the project by visiting this website or through the NSURB Facebook page.
In August 2012, the City Commission authorized the modification of Lighting District 460 which encompasses N. 7th Avenue from Oak to Main Street. This allowed City staff to move forward on construction plans which includes not only the installation of the new lights but also placing the wiring for the lighting underground. Following the installation of the new lights, those property owners fronting the sections with new lights will see their annual assessment increase from $1.03 per lineal foot of N. 7th Avenue property frontage to $1.25 per foot. The increase is due to an increase in power consumption with the installation of additional lights – N. 7th Avenue is looking forward to brighter nights.
